Living in the rolling hills of Ozark Country, Wheatland Missouri, is exciting. Being exposed to such beauty as all the seasons change.
I can look out the window of my study and watch the horses graze, which is a fun break in painting.
My husband and I have been married 50 years now and that's because he's a gentlemen who puts up with my nonsense.
I am a self taught artist and have been painting for 30 years. Customers have said "I can recognize your work anywhere". That is when I realized I had developed my own style.
My daughter, Jill base coats for me and is becoming quite a good little artist herself. She will take over when I retire.

I had chosen Cypress to paint on because each piece is shaped different, which makes each of them a one of a kind. I paint them free hand, as a pattern would not work on different shapes. My Cypress wood comes from Louisiana. The Cypress Knee is the root of the tree that grows up out of the water in the swamps. It takes 3 years for them to grow back. Each year they grow 1 to 2 inches. A crew harvests them by boat, put them into a steam vat, then they are peeled by hand and kiln dried.
